Work out in a chair or standing up, but movement is important which is why Fit After 50 has become such a popular class. Exercise at your own pace with friends and neighbors every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Anza Community Hall.
About a dozen people come in weekly for The Fit After 50 Class. People bring their own resistance bands and a great attitude.
Teresa Hoehn has been coming to The Fit After 50 Class for almost six years and loves it. It was her introduction to the community. She has exercised throughout her life and appreciates the time she has with The Fit After 50 group, physically, mentally and socially.
Lee Schulz has been coming on and off with his wife Reba Schulz for around 16 years. He enjoys the video instruction and said, “It is easy to follow along with.”
His wife Reba, the step-in leader of the class, said she used to have bad problems with her sciatica and the class has helped her by keeping limber and stretched out. She recommends this class very much.
“People come in all ages, we have people in their 80s and one in their 90s that makes it every now and then.” She said.
Young, spry, 50-year-olds and up are always welcome. Remember to bring water, fitness towel, resistance bands and your great attitude. Smiles and conversations are shared before and after the class.
For over 20 years, The Fit After 50 Class has been available thru the generous Indian Health every Tuesday and Thursday. They also provide a balanced lunch at a designated location for the class.
Diana Thiele has been coming for over 20 years and absolutely loves it. She stated she keeps coming back because she is fitness fine and there isn’t a thing she won’t try. The class has kept her in such great shape she enjoyed tubbing down the Colorado River for her birthday this past year in August. She also said that she has been going to the TOPS (taking off pounds sensibly) class lead by Diana Bellis for over a year and a half at the Baptist Church, and believes that this combination is what keeps her in such great shape and at her goal weight.
