3.0 earthquake hits Anza

ANZA – A magnitude 3.0 earthquake rattled the mountains south of Palm Springs on Feb. 20, and was felt from Hemet to Indio.

The shaker struck at 6:10 a.m. and was centered 11 miles southeast of Anza, or 26 miles south of Palm Springs.

A smaller 1.1 magnitude quake happened at the same epicenter at 6:18 a.m.

A handful of people signed on to a USGS’ web site to report feeling a gentle shake.

No damage reports were made.
