November news from Anza VFW Post 1873 and the Auxiliary

ANZA – Free Burgers to Vets. We’d like to invite vets in the community to come to the Post Nov. 11, Veterans’ Day. Vets eat free from noon to 6 p.m. All others will cost $6 for burgers, fries, various salads and all the accoutrements that go along. Burgers will be served from noon to 6 p.m. Karaoke will run from 3-7 p.m.

Karaoke will now be held on the second and fourth Saturdays instead of the first and third.

The serving of burgers on Saturday will be suspended until next spring.

Starting in November, Friday meals will begin serving at 4:30 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.

Anza Kids – I don’t really have any info on this newly formed organization. But Mimi, President of the Lions, said there would be collection boxes around town to collect unwrapped toys. They will also be collecting unwrapped toys on Nov.12 at the VFW when they do their monthly omelets.

We’re still looking for volunteers to cook or at least help in the kitchen. If you are interested in helping out, call our kitchen chairman Debbi at (951) 763-1291. And don’t forget to save those pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House. Just turn them in at the bar.

Activities for November (which is Celebrate Empty Nest Month) are:

Nov. 3 – Debbi’s Marinated/breaded Yellowtail tuna steaks (wild caught by Daryl Evans) w/tartar or lemon dill sauce, scalloped potatoes, veggies, salad, soup, dessert
