Traffic on southbound Interstate 15 south of Mission Rd. impacted by truck fire; all lanes open now

Shortly after noon today, a vehicle accident led to lane closures on southbound Interstate 15, just south of Mission Road, causing severe traffic congestion.

According to officers, a truck pulling a concrete pumping trailer was blocking lanes; the truck was on fire.

In addition to traffic delays, motorists experienced significant smoke in the area.

Emergency responders were on the scene for about two hours.

A clean-up effort was needed in order to remove diesel gasoline and hydraulic fluid from the roadway.

At shortly after 2 p.m., all lanes had been reopened to traffic but traffic congestion was still high.

Two mornings in a row I got on I15 south at the 79 on ramp and the traffic was like early morning Feeway 91. Bumper to bumper all the way to Deer Springs Road. Temecula better get set for OC traffic.
