"The most beautiful person ever," "a great hugger," "he is such a great loss," was repeated over and over again among the many who knew and loved David Baxter who attended the celebration of life fundraiser on Saturday, April 13, at the Cahuilla Market-Gardens and Café on Hwy 371 to benefit his long time love of over 20 years, Annie Vavari, to help her financially in her time of loss and transition.

Friend Linda Micu, who organized the event, said, "Annie was overwhelmed with all the love and support she experienced that day."

Many individuals and businesses all worked together to make the day special and a success. Some donated raffle prizes, the Barn Yard Boyz, Mark Huston and the Workin’ Men donated their time and talent to entertain the attendees, and Jorge Rodrigues, owner of the Cahuilla Market-Gardens and Café, donated the proceeds of the cost of the dinner plates to the cause. There were many, unmentioned individuals behind the scenes working to make the day a special success, as well.

Music was special to Dave as he often travelled to Aguanga’s Stagecoach Inn to play his guitar along with the bands. One friend on Annie’s Facebook wrote of how they had known Dave for 30 years Advertisement

and that they always anticipated seeing him on the road. Now that this is not possible, they wished they had not taken that fact for granted.

Annie was the love of his life and he would do anything for her.

"I never saw two people more in love," said a friend.

"He was the best brother ever," his sister Sharon said. "We were 19 months apart and we were very close."

Hundreds came in and out throughout the day to enjoy what the day had to offer and to remember the man, David Baxter.

On Monday, March 25, David Baxter lost his life. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 55-year-old David Baxter was working beneath a truck near the intersection of Cave Rock Road and Boulder Road around 2:40 p.m. when the truck slipped and fell, pinning Baxter beneath it. Baxter died at the scene from his injuries. No one else was involved. Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

On behalf of the Baxter family, Annie, Dave’s dad, mom, and sister Sharon Cerilo want to thank the town for their love and support during this difficult time.

If you would like to donate or send your condolences, call Linda Micu at (951) 760-9911.
